The club was established in 1970 by Austrian Immigrants, most of whom were tradesmen who had come to Australia in 1951 under a two year contract to build prefabricated housing for the Austrian company “Thermobau”.
After the contract was finished many decided to stay in Australia, becoming actively involved to establish a Club as well as building a Clubhouse. In this venue the members could socialise with each other and at the same time preserve the culture and traditions of their homeland.
Through cash donations and the sale of life memberships, money was raised to buy land, and after many hours of voluntary labour plus donations of building materials, the club house became a reality. The original club was called “Old Austria Club of W.A.”
It was renamed in 2006 to “Austria Club” of WA Inc.
After 40 years of prosperity the Club is now approaching a variety of other Clubs, ethnic groups and families to enjoy our facilities.
Every two months our Club magazine is mailed or emailed to our members to keep them informed about news and up-coming functions.
We wish you a pleasant time when you visit the Club.
